    About the Community Supper

Every Tuesday & Wednesday night Robert’s Maine Grill in Kittery offers a “Community Supper.” The main focus of the supper is a $14, 3 course menu – a way of giving our guests a break in the middle of the week and a “recession buster”. The menus are in the spirit of Robert’s style: Maine Comfort Food with an updated twist. To add to the community spirit of it, each Tuesday & Wednesday we donate a portion of proceeds from the supper to a local non-profit. Community Supper opens to the public at 4PM and continues through close.

We post the weekly menu by Friday on our website: www.robertsmainegrill.com. For non-profits interested in participating please call Robert’s at 207-439-0300 and ask for Deb McCluskey, our Community Supper coordinator or email us at deb@robertsmainegrill.com

ALL DAYEnglish Channel - France to England

10620689_10152691881749797_7079801370589351385_nAugust of 2015, my father Patrick; an avid swimmer and ocean lover for years has taken it upon himself to set sights on the English Channel. This particular body of water is nearly 21 miles and certainly not the friendliest. The waters are harsh, cold and unforgiving, yet his determination to swim remains steady.

Two years ago my father experienced a terrible accident at work involving a saw blade and now has limited mobility and use of his left leg. Through the pain and recovery he has continued to swim and exercise with a will of steel and completion of this swim means everything to him.

However, there are hefty costs associated with the preparation and execution of this particular swim, and we could really use some help in raising funds for my father’s trip & execution of the swim itself! This is a solo effort for Patrick, which involves a trip to Dover, getting his own boat, as well as the length of stay and successful swim with a crew across the channel to France.

There is a deposit fee of around $2,000 simply for the booking and reservation of a time slot and boat crew to safely guide my father across the channel; which he has already paid out of pocket. The whole cost of bringing the entire team over in addition to accommodation funds is around $15,000, but through this swim we hope to raise an excess of $100,000-200,000 dollars for Annie’s Angels.

Merrimac Valley lifetime resident and Hall of Fame Swim Coach Rick Battistini will be acting as Patrick’s conditioning and swim coach. Battistini is one of New England’s top club, High school and Masters Coaches. He has coached New England, State High school, Iron Man and National masters Champions for over 40 years. Coach “Batt” is currently Head Coach of New Wave Swim Club, a 130-athlete aged group team based out of Lowell. He also leads Lowell High’s Boys Varsity team in addition to Haverhill’s High school girls’ varsity and MAMA New England Masters team.

“Patrick’s desire to undertake this larger than life endeavor will be his challenge of a lifetime. Following a horrific work accident, Patrick will attempt to drag his badly damaged leg through 20+ miles of the planet’s coldest, roughest oceans. His preparation must be focused, intense, consistent and tireless!”

John Griffin will be the Chief Organizer and in charge of Public Relations. John brings 25 years of sailboat racing and experience with both teaching and racing in various classes of sailboats around the globe. He will be vital in working with the pilot, judging wind, weather and tide conditions and keeping Patrick on course for the swim.

Patrick feels extremely fortunate to have on his team such elite athletes and coaches, and by their efforts he feels quite confident that he will be able to obtain his goal despite his disability. Each individual on this team will be working as hard as Patrick in feedings, stamina techniques and above all motivation and the team as a whole admires and appreciates any and all contributions toward this cause! They are also tax-deductible.

My father and his teammates thank each and every one of you for your support now and in the future.

Thank you all so much for your time and effort,
Dylan, Patrick & Team                                                        Donate Today!!
